The specially formulated ammonium bicarbonate in Toxifarm, upon mixing with feed, converts to NH3 and chemically reacts with the lactone rings in the environment, breaking the epoxy oxygen rings of mycotoxins and rendering them ineffective.
a-Chemical Effect of Toxifarm Dry: The basic chemical structures of aflatoxins, which cause toxic effects in the organism, are broken down and/or modified by ammonia, and thus inactivated. Mycotoxins in feed or feed ingredients where Toxifarm Dry is used:
• are degraded
• are inactivated
• are bound.
b-Physical Effect of Toxifarm Dry: Mycotoxins bind to adsorbents and are taken in with the feed, passing through the intestinal tract without causing any toxic effects and without being absorbed, and are excreted with feces. The binding of mycotoxins is selective. Different aluminosilicates bind different mycotoxins. The aluminosilicates in its structure prevent toxins such as aflatoxin, ochratoxins, T-2 toxin, zearalenone, and patulin from passing into the bloodstream
